Luke 10:37
And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Why We Serve
Mercy Health Clinic of North Wake is founded on the Great Commandment as taught by Jesus Christ in Luke 10:25-29. This commandment has two parts: first – Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind; second – Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus clarified the definition of “neighbor” in the parable of the Good Samaritan Luke 10:30-37. In this parable, a Jewish man was severely beaten and robbed along a dangerous journey. Two different Jewish religious leaders avoided this man despite his apparent need. A Samaritan man recognized the Jewish man’s condition and had mercy on him. The Samaritan man acted to help the Jewish man despite the history of Jewish people marginalizing and excluding the Samaritans. The Samaritan man acted by assisting the injured Jewish man to an inn and paying for his room and board as well as his medical care. He even returned to the inn to check on the Jewish man’s condition. At the end of the parable, Jesus asked who was his neighbor. The student correctly answered, “The one who showed mercy.” Jesus then commanded the student “Go and do likewise”. Will you “Go and do likewise” by volunteering and/or donating to Mercy Health Clinic of North Wake? If you are a neighbor in need please schedule an appointment with us.
